Junior Tennis Club seasonal campaign

All our matches in the Belfast and district leagues are now concluded. It has proved a successful campaign with our under 18 girls A team being the most productive by picking up their league title and finishing runners-up in the Knock-out Challenge Trophy. A special mention goes to Jane Simpson, unbeaten in all league matches. The under 14 boys A team grabbed second spot in division 2 and lost in the semi-finals of the Challenge Trophy by games, after the match ended in a draw, to the eventual winners of the competition. Our under 18 A boys team reached runners-up in a highly competitive division and got to the quarter-finals of the Knockout Cup.
Craig Campbell, our number one boy’s player, has since won the Newry and Warrenpoint Championships with the loss of just two games for the second year running. Ruth McNickle, a promising young A team player, lost in the final of the girl’s equivalent by just one game. The club has two teams playing in the Ulster finals of the Community Games tomorrow, 28th June 2008. We wish them every success.
Finally, congratulations to all players who played on our eight juvenille teams this season, especially those who starred in the under 14A girls and under 14C boys teams.Well done.
